Thai Muay Thai Youth Champion Wins IFMA World Championship Gold

Thai youth Muay Thai fighters competed for the prestigious title of world champion on the first championship day. One of the standout performers was Paritaya R.R. Kiatnakornsri, the niece of the renowned hero of Thai boxing, Woraphan Petchkhum. Paritaya led the Thai fighters to sweep four gold medals and left the audience cheering for more on the final day of the tournament.

The International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) teamed up with the Amateur Muaythai Association of Thailand (AMTAT) and the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) to organize the tournament, aiming to promote Thai boxing globally. The event, held at the Paragon Hall Siam Paragon from September 13-19, drew a large crowd of Muay Thai fans, with over 2,000 athletes from more than 100 countries participating.

Paritaya’s victory in the 30kg girls’ category, aged 10-11, against Jessica Martinez from the United States, was a highlight of the competition. Expressing her joy at winning the championship, Paritaya expressed her desire to follow in her uncle’s footsteps and represent Thailand on the international stage. In addition to Paritaya’s success, Thai fighters secured three more gold medals in various weight categories. Suphadech Wangmu defeated Andrea Catamayo Checa from Ecuador in the 52kg boys’ category, while Chalanth Kruengkham emerged victorious against Samiyeh Kachahass from Iran in the 48kg girls’ category. Another impressive win came from Krissana Hoi Kaew, who defeated Alexander Peverseynsev from Belarus in the 38kg boys’ category.

With a total of four gold and five silver medals won on the first day of the championships, Thai fighters have shown their skill and determination on the international stage. As the competition progresses to the final day on September 19, five more Thai fighters have the opportunity to compete for the championship title.

IFMA’s Efforts to Develop Young Muay Thai Talent

Dr. Sakchai, President of IFMA, expressed his delight at Thailand’s hosting of the prestigious Muay Thai championship. He emphasized Thailand’s role as a true host, providing excellent facilities, accommodation, transportation, and security measures for the event.
