The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has partnered with Facebook and Kenan Foundation Asia to offer digital marketing training courses through 1,836 USO Net public internet centers nationwide. The goal of the “Meta’s SME Academy and Seller Education” course is to assist individuals in remote areas in generating more income.
Dr. Sarana Boonbaichaiyapruck, the chairman of the NBTC board, mentioned that the free course, organized in collaboration with Facebook (Thailand) and Kenan Foundation Asia, is open to people and students in remote areas. The course targets small entrepreneurs or aspiring business owners and aims to convert USO Net centers into community e-commerce centers.
Dr. Sarana emphasized that the training program will provide participants with the knowledge of conducting business in the digital age, ultimately enhancing their business growth opportunities. This initiative aligns with one of NBTC’s urgent policies for the year, which is to promote USO Net centers as e-commerce communities to help individuals in marginalized and remote areas earn income.
The chairman highlighted the role of technology in transforming knowledge into a career, particularly through platforms like Facebook that offer income-generating opportunities. He emphasized the importance of equal access to knowledge, indicating that the project serves as a stepping stone for sharing knowledge and utilizing it as a source of income from online platforms for community members and those in distant locations.
Yingyos Leechaianan, the head of public policy at Facebook Thailand, expressed that the collaboration marks a significant milestone for Meta in supporting Thailand’s digital economy. The partnership aims to enhance the skills of Thai businesses, enabling them to improve their capabilities and competitiveness.
The digital marketing training course is conducted in Thai, and participants will receive certificates upon completion of their training. Mr. Yingyos stated that Facebook aims to be a platform that not only helps Thai businesses grow within the country but also facilitates the export of their products, innovations, and influence through Meta’s platform. This effort is part of Meta’s commitment to supporting Thai businesses and fostering their growth on a global scale.
