Police Chase Ends in Tragedy: One Officer Dead, Another Injured
On a fateful Sunday night in Phitsanulok, a police motorcycle chase took a devastating turn. The patrol bike crashed, resulting in the death of one officer and the serious injury of another. The incident occurred around 8pm near the Makro intersection on Boromtrailokanat Road, leaving the authorities in shock.
The two officers, Pol Sgt Thitikorn Dechanan and Pol Sgt Apidet Yatha, were in pursuit of a suspect on a motorcycle when the unexpected tragedy struck. The police driver lost control of their Honda CBR, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and overturn on the median strip. Both officers suffered severe head injuries and abrasions in the crash, prompting emergency responders from Phitsanulok Rescue Foundation and Buddhachinaraj Hospital to rush to their aid.
Despite the valiant efforts to save him, Pol Sgt Apidet tragically succumbed to his injuries around 10pm. In the wake of the accident, senior police officers paid a visit to the hospital to extend their support and assistance to the victims’ families. Meanwhile, investigators are diligently reviewing surveillance camera footage in an effort to identify and locate the fugitive suspect and his motorcycle.
