Alright, so like, last year in September, politicians were all up in parliament debating the 2025 Budget Bill. Nutthawat Wichieanbut was probably there taking notes or something. Anyway, the Bhumjaithai Party came out on Sunday saying that their MPs are totally gonna support the budget bill for the 2026 fiscal year. It’s gonna go to the cabinet and the House of Representatives for approval later this month, you know, the usual government stuff.
The party’s spokesperson, Nan Boontida Somchai, was like, “Yeah, we’re part of the government coalition, and our peeps are all up in the ministries working on this budget bill. So, of course, we gotta support it because it’s important for the country and stuff.”
There were some rumors going around that some Bhumjaithai MPs were gonna vote against the bill because they were mad at Pheu Thai, the big shot party in the coalition. Apparently, they were salty about some vote-rigging investigation from the Senate elections last year. Drama, am I right?
But like, the ruling party folks were still pretty confident that Bhumjaithai would have their backs when it came to the bill. Wisut Chainarun, the government whip dude from Pheu Thai, said they’re all gonna sit down on Tuesday to chat about the bill. The cabinet will then check it out on May 20, and it’s gonna hit the Lower House on May 28-30.
When asked about the rumors of Bhumjaithai possibly dropping the bill, Wisut was like, “Nah, they wouldn’t do that. It’s just not cool, you know? They’re part of the team.”
He also mentioned something about political etiquette and how it’s expected for Bhumjaithai MPs to support the bill. So, yeah, drama over senators and stuff shouldn’t mess with the budget, according to him.
The tension between Bhumjaithai and Pheu Thai has been heating up lately. Like, the Bhumjaithai secretary-general was not vibing with this entertainment complex bill and Pheu Thai was side-eyeing them for it. They’ve been beefing over cannabis policies and land disputes too. It’s a whole mess, really.
But this list-MP from Pheu Thai, Anusorn Iamsa-ard, shut down the talk about Bhumjaithai ditching the budget bill. He called it all a ploy to stir up trouble and reassured everyone that the government has the full support of its squad.
He was like, “No way are we dissolving the House, guys. We all know that we gotta work together for the people and stuff.” He also made it clear that any investigations into the Senate election have nothing to do with the government’s game plan.
The budget bill is crucial for the country’s growth, and the government isn’t about to play games that could mess things up. Anusorn urged everyone to put their differences aside and focus on moving forward together.
Oh, and the Election Commission chairman, Ittiporn Boonpracong, shut down the haters saying the EC doesn’t need to call in those 53 senators for questioning about the alleged vote shadiness. He also denied any rumors about the EC being pushed around in the investigation.
So yeah, that’s the scoop on the budget bill drama. Let’s see how this all plays out, right?
