The Prime Minister announced the intention to propose Phuket as the host of the InterPride World Conference 2025 and prepare to propose hosting WorldPride 2030. Prime Minister Seri declared and special address at the “Unity in Action: Thailand’s Next Steps in Equality” event under the theme “Towards Equality and Unity: Announcing Thailand’s Advancements in Marriage Equality Legislation and Readiness to Propose Hosting the InterPride World Conference.” Thailand announced its stance on supporting gender equality and diversity, along with the commitment to propose hosting the InterPride World Conference 2025 and prepare to host WorldPride 2030 together in society with respect. Thailand is confident to be a safe destination for the LGBTQ+ community. The Prime Minister welcomed Thailand’s progress in promoting gender equality and advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, with significant support from the Thai people and government leading to the passage of equal marriage legislation, reflecting deeply held Thai values of embracing differences, celebrating human diversity, and striving to create a world full of love and respect without limitations. The government looks to the future, emphasizing long-term planning to promote gender equality and create an inclusive society. The government will continue to support legislation that elevates LGBTQ+ rights consistently to ensure that Thailand remains a safe destination for the LGBTQ+ community. The Prime Minister stated that, despite remaining challenges, the government will persevere to create ongoing equality. Additionally, the government aims to boost Thailand’s tourism industry image, economic growth through MICE, medical tourism, and long-term family destinations for the LGBTQ+ community. Thailand reaffirmed its commitment to building strategic partnerships, especially in the Asian region, by establishing the Asian Pride Alliance network to promote equality and diversity in Asia to collaborate at a regional level. Thailand hopes to advance LGBTQ+ agendas and support the pride community at both regional and global levels. The Prime Minister further stated that the government is pleased to announce its commitment to propose Phuket as the host of the InterPride World Conference in 2025, showcasing the strong collaboration of Thailand’s LGBTQ+ community and marking a significant step in the “Road to WorldPride” campaign to prepare for hosting WorldPride 2030, aimed at strengthening our pride community and connecting with the global pride network. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of creating a world that does not divide but celebrates diversity, urging everyone to come together with respect and make this diversity a crucial foundation for future society.
