A group of victims who fell prey to a condominium fraud case in Chiang Mai back in 2022 are seeking justice after a two-year stall in the legal proceedings. The victims have turned to the Foundation Campaigning to Reclaim Social Justice for assistance in moving forward with their case. They have submitted evidence to lawyer Ronnarong Kaewpet, the chairman of the foundation, in hopes of gaining support in pursuing justice.

One of the victims, Narumon Simons, shared her experience of purchasing a condominium unit in a luxury project in Hang Dong District, Chiang Mai. The project, which started in January 2019 with units priced at 2.9 million baht each, promised buyers the opportunity to earn rental income from their units. Narumon agreed to let the developer rent out her unit and received rental payments from 2019 to 2022. However, the payments suddenly stopped, leading her to discover that her unit was occupied by Chinese tenants and in poor condition.

Similar stories were shared by other victims who had purchased multiple units but did not receive the promised rental income. In total, over 100 victims have come forward, claiming damages totaling more than 300 million baht. Despite filing a complaint with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) in 2022, no progress has been made in the case.

Inspired by the recent swift action taken in the iCon Group scam case, the victims are hopeful that they will receive similar attention from the authorities. Lawyer Ronnarong has pledged to support the victims and plans to accompany them to the DSI office to inquire about the progress of their case.

The victims remain determined to seek justice and hold the condominium developer accountable for their actions. They are hopeful that with the support of the Foundation Campaigning to Reclaim Social Justice and the attention of the authorities, they will finally see progress in their pursuit of justice.
