As the deputy president of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and vice president of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand, Khunying Patama met with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Minister of Youth and Sport Farid Gayibov to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral relations through shared initiatives.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Mustafayev underscored the significance that President Ilham Aliyev places on sports development and athlete support in Azerbaijan. The recent appointment of an ambassador to Thailand reflects Azerbaijan’s commitment to strengthening relations with Thailand, with a specific focus on sports, culture, and tourism. In her capacity as president of the Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT), she signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Taleh Ziyadov, president of the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation. The MoU outlines a comprehensive program of cooperation, including joint training camps, coaching courses, referee training, and knowledge exchange on sports infrastructure development and management.

Elevating Azerbaijan’s Badminton Performance

Khunying Patama commended Azerbaijan’s achievements in badminton, particularly the participation of Azerbaijani athletes in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
