Thai Beverage Plc, a well-known beverage company, has taken a significant step towards supporting education by providing funds to 15 schools that are dedicated to promoting sufficiency economy principles. This generous initiative was announced by Thai Beverage CEO, Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, during a ceremony at the Sustainability Expo 2024 held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok.
The event saw the distribution of scholarships to various schools that are actively involved in carrying forward royal initiatives. Mr. Thapana, along with representatives from the Office of the Royal Development Projects Board (ORDPB) and the Office of the Basic Education Commission (Obec), presented grants of 10,000 baht each to 10 primary schools and five secondary schools.
At the ceremony, teachers and students from Pak Bueng Singto School in Chachoengsao shared their experiences of incorporating sufficiency economy principles into their curriculum. They highlighted activities such as organic composting, mushroom cultivation, and herbal soap making as part of their efforts to educate students about sustainable practices.
A teacher from Wat Pitulathirat Rangsarit Kindergarten in Chachoengsao expressed the school’s commitment to following the path laid out by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great. By engaging students in hands-on learning experiences like tree planting, herb cultivation, and fish breeding, the school aims to equip them with the skills to support their families economically in a sustainable manner.
Sumet Tantivejkul, the secretary-general of the Chaipattana Foundation, concluded the event by encouraging attendees to reflect on the invaluable teachings of King Rama IX. He stressed the importance of water management, sustainable development, and the cultivation of moral values and intelligence among the youth.
This initiative by Thai Beverage Plc not only demonstrates the company’s commitment to social responsibility but also highlights the crucial role that businesses can play in supporting education and sustainable practices in local communities. By partnering with schools that embrace sufficiency economy principles, Thai Beverage is contributing to the development of future generations who are not only academically proficient but also environmentally conscious and socially responsible. It is heartening to see corporate entities like Thai Beverage taking proactive steps to make a positive impact on society through education and community development initiatives.
