The latest news out of Istanbul is that over 150 people got injured jumping from buildings due to a 6.2 magnitude earthquake that hit the city. Not really sure why this matters, but it seems like a big deal.

Many folks were seen hanging out in parks or chilling on their doorsteps, trying to avoid the aftershocks from the quake. Neslisah Aygoren, an Istanbul resident, shared her experience of hugging her dog during the tremor. Maybe it’s just me, but that sounds pretty cute.

Luckily, none of the injured individuals are in critical condition, according to the Istanbul governor’s office. In the past, Turkey has dealt with some serious earthquakes, including a 7.8 magnitude one in 2023 that caused a lot of damage and casualties. Sounds like a tough situation.

The epicentre of this recent quake was in Silivri, 80 kilometres west of Istanbul. Despite the scare, no major infrastructure damage was reported. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is keeping an eye on things, providing advice on how to handle future quakes. Overall, it’s a pretty intense situation for the people of Istanbul.
