Retrieval operations just kept on going at the site of the collapsed building in Chatuchak district, Bangkok. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration was all hands on deck for this one. Kriengsak Kovadhana, the big shot executive vice president of Italian-Thai Development, spilled the beans about the construction contracts for the crumbled State Audit Office (SAO) building over at the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) on Tuesday.

Pol Lt Col Amorn Hongsrithong, the head honcho over at the DSI’s Bureau of Government Procurement Fraud, spilled some tea that Mr. Kriengsak was going to be grilled about the whole bidding process, who did what, and how they got paid. Sounds juicy, right?

Not just Mr. Kriengsak, but also 10 engineers who had their hands in the cookie jar for this construction project got called in to spill the beans about their signatures on project papers and what they actually did on the project. Apparently, they gotta compare these scribbles to what’s on the documents. Gotta make sure nobody’s pulling a fast one!

But, uh-oh, only seven of them showed up. The other three better have a good excuse or they’re gonna get a stern talking to.

Col Amorn also mentioned that they were sifting through over 100 boxes of papers they snatched from the SAO office the other day. Documents about the whole construction shebang, project oversight, money moves, and daily grind were all hauled in. They’re gonna have the whole gang – investigators, Department of Public Works and Town and Country Planning peeps, SAO folks, and the joint venture squad – sit down and go through these papers together this week. It’s like a little paper party!

Meanwhile, the retrieval crew was still at it over at the collapsed SAO building site. Suriyachai Rawiwan, the big cheese over at the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, gave an update that they found a whole body and some body parts near a stairwell in Zone B the other night. They’re still digging through Zones A and D, but now they’re focusing on Zones C2 and C3 where they think more people might be stuck.

The whole shebang at the SAO building site was like a real-life thriller movie – except, y’know, it’s real life and not Hollywood. The investigators, rescue officers, and all those other bigwigs were in for a wild ride trying to figure out what went down at that collapsed building.

It’s gonna be a long road ahead for everyone involved, but with all these investigations and retrieval operations in full swing, maybe they’ll finally get some answers. Or maybe not. Who knows, really? Just gotta wait and see how this whole thing plays out.
