A group of teenagers in Buriram assaulted a young male student at his residence, causing fear of retaliation from the powerful and influential group known as Khummoon. The victim, Kittipong, denied any involvement in the incident but was still attacked by approximately 10 teenagers on August 10. Despite reporting the assault to the police, Kittipong expressed concerns that the case would be ignored due to the group’s influence.

Kittipong, a 20-year-old student, recounted the terrifying experience of being attacked in front of his rented room while with his girlfriend. The attackers, who arrived on motorcycles, unexpectedly beat him for about 10 minutes before fleeing the scene. Kittipong immediately reported the incident to the police and provided descriptions of two of the attackers.

The victim’s girlfriend, identified as A, shared her perspective on the incident, noting that she was restrained by another group of teenagers while helplessly watching her boyfriend being beaten. The attackers later messaged Kittipong, questioning his decision to report the assault and falsely accusing him of attacking them previously. Kittipong emphasized that he had never targeted the group, as they are well-known and feared in the community.

Despite filing a police report, Kittipong fears further harm and is too scared to stay in his rented room, worried that the group might return to attack him again. The lack of progress in the case has added to his concerns, as the powerful influence of the attackers makes it challenging for the police to take action.

The incident highlights the issue of bullying and violence among teenagers, as well as the fear and intimidation that victims may experience when seeking justice. It also sheds light on the challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing cases involving influential individuals or groups. The community’s awareness and support are crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of victims like Kittipong and in holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
