According to Pol Lt Gen Jirabhop, the year 2025 has seen a surge in cybercrimes, particularly service and investment scams. The CIB received a staggering 279,861 petitions related to cybercrimes between Jan 1 and Sept 30, resulting in financial losses of over 28.01 billion baht. Investment scams alone accounted for 10.229 billion baht in damages, highlighting the dire need for action against these fraudulent activities.
Psychological Tactics and Deception
Scammers are employing sophisticated psychological tactics to lure victims into their schemes, promising high profits and building a facade of reliability. Pol Lt Gen Jirabhop revealed that scammers often create an illusion of credibility through luxury displays online, seminars, and celebrity endorsements.
